| March 19th 8:50 PM PT - Equinox / Sun enters Aries We are each a strand of the impossibly intricate web of this world. Our care for one another is the glue. Our interdependence is non-negotiable. The myth of making it solely on our own is a fantastical tale with a bitter end. Individualism is a public health crisis. Pandemics are going to happen. Natural disasters are a given. Life is as traumatic as it is triumphant. We get through none of it without one another. Even when our privilege allows us the delusion of being self-made, we will eventually succumb to the insecurity of being in a body. Moments like this make us well aware of that. We are right to be worried that we might get sick(er) and suffer (more than we already do). The very real threat to our physical health that we are facing forces us to unpack emotions that live beneath the surface of our conscious awareness. Living in a society that leaves the marginalized among us out to dry, condemned to suffer from the systems set up to have them fail, will plague us until we remedy it. It's time, past time, to live in a world where necessities are provided and excess is shared. The Equinox occurs on March 19, at 8:50 PM PT. It marks the change of season and the beginning of Aries Season. As the Sun enters this sign, it is said to shine courageously. Boldly. Loudly. Aries has passion, energy, and enthusiasm. It fights, incites, and stirs controversy. Rugged and on the battlefield of life, Aries seeks and speaks to the renewing power of spring. Like any good cardinal sign, Aries brings change, is energetic, action-oriented, and ready to rumble. However. Capricorn is still the most crowded part of the sky. Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto, and the south node are all clustered along the landscape of the earth sign known for its fondness of restrictions, boundaries, and self-containment. Mars creates heat which can lead to inflammation, damaging the system. Saturn restricts, isolates, and sets boundaries. Jupiter exaggerates, magnifies, and optimizes. Pluto excavates. The south node empties out. Altogether, they pull focus on some of the more difficult themes of being human. The beginning of the year brought us the Saturn/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn, setting a somber tone for 2020. Here, Saturn and Pluto speak to changes to our economy, revealing our personal and collective shadow material, and can set a fairly severe sentiment for the year to be lived out within. Within the next week Mars and Jupiter, and then Mars and Pluto will meet up on (and close to) the same degree as the Saturn/Pluto conjunction. Rallying ambition and courage, a Mars/Jupiter conjunction can also amplify the harm that Mars can create. Excess heat, fevers, and alarm bells are not to be dismissed and may mark a moment of elevated awareness about COVID-19. Mars and Pluto together speak to a kind of extreme determination to go the distance, but in this moment can also speak to a rugged individualism that further distances us from the networks of care so desperately needed right now. Soon, Saturn will enter Aquarius and Mars will follow suit. The two will meet up on March 31st. The impulsivity of Mars and the strict rules and regulations of Saturn will clash. The hardest of transits among the traditional planets, Saturn and Mars together can restrict our movements, place unbelievable obstacles in our way, and force us to meditate when we can't move and find every crack and crevice to slip through when we can. May all of these movements of Mars help us find the courage needed to face this moment and embrace the lessons it is bringing. May it help us to find the courage necessary to take part in the value shifts our culture so desperately needs. May it help us have the courage to cry, rest, reach out to loved ones, breathe deeply, write, and ask for help when we need it. May it bring us ample courage to take the actions needed to foster our revolutions and evolution.
