My big plans tonight

Happy New Year's Eve, Danielle! I hope you and your loved ones have had a happy, healthy, and restful holiday season.

My big plans for tonight involve sitting on the couch. Bruce and I will continue our annual New Year's Eve tradition of re-watching Casablanca.

It's a story about love, loyalty, and courage. And it gives me hope. Hope for people who survive and flourish even against long odds. Hope for young people on the cusp of building a new life. Hope for older people looking for a safe landing place. Hope for people at the edge of a big transition — fighting and praying for a brighter dawn.

What better way to ring in 2024 and this pivotal election year?

We're standing at the edge of our own transformation right now. I'm up for re-election next year. And across the country, everything from health care and child care to abortion rights and our democracy itself will be on the ballot and on the line. I will continue working my heart out for Massachusetts families. And I will continue doing everything I can to help re-elect President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

We have a lot of work ahead of us in the new year, so I'm asking if you can chip in to help keep up the fight and the hope.

Why I’m running for re-election

Danielle, we've got just under two days before our end-of-quarter fundraising deadline, and here's the thing: we're short of where we need to be.

It's powerfully important that we hit our quarterly goal and demonstrate strong support for our campaign on our public FEC report. Any sign of weakness or decline in support this quarter could act as a green light for the special interests that I'm fighting against to recruit a challenger against me and put an end to our plans for big, structural change.

I'm running for re-election in 2024 because there's a lot we've got to do in order to save our country from extremists and make real change for our working families. And I'm going to keep fighting my heart out for this. But I need you by my side in order to stay in the Senate and continue this important work. My radical agenda

Danielle, I'll cut to the chase: I'm asking if you can please pitch in to support my re-election campaign so I can keep fighting for working families in the Senate. We're up against powerful special interests who want to see our momentum fizzle out — and your support before the December 31 FEC fundraising deadline can help mitigate their threats.

After our fundraising report is published, everyone we're fighting against will take a look at our numbers to answer some questions: "Do those radical plans of hers actually have support? Do people really believe in those ideas?"

As a reminder Danielle, here are some of those "radical" plans and ideas that we're fighting for:

MAGA extremists shouldn't be able to stop people from voting or overturn election results they don't like.
Multi-millionaires and billionaires should pay a small wealth tax on fortunes greater than $50 million so all of our kids can have a fighting chance at success.
Supreme Court justices should follow a basic code of ethics to start restoring public trust in our nation's highest court. Oh, and we should expand the Court too to rebalance it since it's been hijacked by right-wing extremists.
Quality child care should not eat up an entire paycheck.
Big bank executives should not be able to gamble with consumers' livelihoods.
The filibuster must be abolished so we can pass the laws that the majority of Americans are calling for, like protecting abortion rights and enacting gun safety laws.

The special interests and right-wing extremists who have the most to lose from this agenda are hoping to see it have less and less public support. And publishing a strong FEC fundraising report — with a large amount of small-dollar donations — helps ensure they don't get that satisfaction.

A contribution of $100 or any amount you can give right now sends a message to those special interests and out-of-touch ideologues that you're still in this fight — and that together, we are going to defeat them.

Any sign of weakness or decline of support could signal that the momentum behind these plans is weakening — enabling our opponents to strike back, or potentially encouraging them to recruit a challenger against me to try to put our ideas to an end for good.

So Danielle, I'm relying on grassroots support to help show them how many people DO believe in the plans that we're fighting for. And, your donation will help ensure we can advocate and grow momentum for these plans from the halls of the Senate and all across the country.
