Danielle, this is why I’m asking

I'll get right down to it, Danielle: Our next FEC fundraising deadline is coming up at midnight tonight, and we haven't quite hit our goal yet, so I'm going to ask if you can pitch in.

But first, I want to talk about a few reasons why your contribution would make a real difference right now.

Hitting this quarterly fundraising target will set us up to keep growing our re-election campaign. And the contributions we receive now will have an outsized impact in deciding how much we can invest all the way through Election Day.

This is a chance for you to show that you’re still in this fight

I'm deeply grateful for every grassroots donor who chips in to help power our movement — because funding our campaign from the grassroots level makes a powerfully important difference.

Over time, a democracy with political campaigns funded by a small number of people who can contribute a lot of money looks very different from a democracy with campaigns funded by a large number of people who chip in a little at a time.

It's the difference between a government that works great for those at the top and a government that can work for everyone.

With a grassroots-funded movement, we can fight back against powerful interests like the gun lobby, Big Pharma, and fossil fuel giants who've used their deep pockets to block the change we're fighting to make.

And every three months, when we publish our fundraising numbers after the quarterly FEC deadline, we get a chance to show that grassroots donors like you are still in this fight.

If you're able to, will you pitch in $28 or whatever makes sense by tomorrow's important deadline? Your donation will support my re-election campaign and keep up the fight for creating universal child care, passing a wealth tax, getting corruption out of our government, and much more.

We need to defend and expand our Senate majority, retake the House, and re-elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in 2024 — because everything we're fighting for would be a whole lot easier if we had more champions for working people in office. And our chances of making big, structural change all come screeching to a halt if Republicans take any more power.

Democrats win when we go out there and fight for the bold action that families need. But winning majorities is not enough. We need to use those majorities to pass plans that truly transform the lives of working people in this country.

So I'm fighting my heart out to get as much done as possible with the Congress we have now. And I'm working to elect more Democrats up and down the ballot so we can expand our majorities and get more of our plans on the table.

Re: A government shutdown

Let's be clear about what's going on in Washington right now, Danielle: a handful of MAGA Republican extremists in the U.S. House are hellbent on imposing pain on the American people — even if it means shutting down the government or slashing vital programs — to improve Donald Trump's chances of winning in 2024.

They're insisting upon drastic cuts to education, housing, nutrition assistance, heating assistance (just in time for winter), and more. And if they succeed in shutting down the government, babies would get kicked out of Head Start, moms and infants would have their nutrition assistance jeopardized, and service members would go without paychecks — all so a few Republican extremists can score political points.

It's outrageous. This hostage-taking has got to stop, and I'll keep fighting by your side to make sure our government works for families.

If the GOP wins here, they’ll be halfway to a Senate majority

Danielle,

Republicans only need to flip two seats to take control of the U.S. Senate.

And they think they've got a golden opportunity in Nevada.

That's where my friend and colleague Senator Jacky Rosen is up for re-election. Nevada had the nation's closest Senate race in 2022, and it could determine which party wins a majority in 2024 — deciding whether we can deliver more results for working people or whether right-wing extremists will take the driver's seat.

But Jacky was recently outraised by her Republican opponent — and recent polling tracked her two points behind.

We've got to re-elect Jacky Rosen, and early donations make the biggest difference to help plan for the rest of this election cycle. So can you please split a contribution of $28 or any amount between our two campaigns before the critical FEC fundraising deadline coming up?

If we keep Jacky Rosen in the U.S. Senate, she'll keep fighting for the families who most need our government on their side.

She hasn't had anything handed to her. She was the first person in her family to graduate from college. After waiting tables to help put herself through school, she worked as a banquet waitress to pay the bills as she was jumping into the male-dominated computer programming industry.

And she has brought that tenacity to Congress — fighting for affordable health care, better pay for teachers, and protections for Nevada's beautiful natural environment (a place Bruce and I love to go hiking). Together, we successfully called on the Department of Veterans Affairs to start offering abortion services, and I'll be very happy to keep working with her to ensure the right to an abortion nationwide.

You know, I went to Nevada to campaign for Jacky Rosen in 2018. I saw that she had put grassroots donations to good use, helping build a grassroots campaign.

And now that she's up for re-election, she's making decisions about the types of investments her campaign will be able to make for the long haul.

The amount she raises right now will shape her plans all the way through Election Day and help determine how many voters she can reach. So this is the perfect moment to send in a contribution and help secure a victory.
