I’m asking if you’re able to pitch in to support my re-election campaign and start 2024 with the strongest momentum. Here’s why:

Hi Danielle, I'm asking if you can please pitch in tonight to help hit our first monthly fundraising goal of 2024.

It's powerfully important that we reach every grassroots fundraising target in this critical election year in order to campaign for our plans for big, structural change.

Any sign of weakness — any decline of support — could signal that momentum behind these plans is weakening. That could enable our opponents to strike back, or potentially encourage them to recruit a challenger against me to try to put a stop to our plans.

As a reminder, the plans we're fighting for would stop...

MAGA extremists from engaging in voter suppression, overturning election results, and taking away our rights
Quality child care from eating up an entire paycheck
Big bank CEOs from gambling with working people's livelihoods
The filibuster from blocking bills that most Americans are calling for, like protecting abortion rights and enacting gun safety laws

And they would start...

Making multi-millionaires and billionaires pay a small wealth tax on fortunes greater than $50 million so all of our kids can have a fighting chance at success
Restoring public trust in our nation's highest court by getting Supreme Court justices to follow a basic code of ethics (and at least four more new justices will follow those rules once we expand the Court, too)
Bringing down the cost of housing by increasing supply
Rooting corruption out of Washington

The anti-abortion playbook Donald Trump will have on Day 1

Danielle, as you read this, anti-abortion political groups are drafting a plan to rescind abortion rights in every way possible — and they'll hand that plan to President Trump on Day 1 of his presidency.

New POLITICO reporting has detailed how these groups advise leveraging new rules at agencies like the FTC, FDA, and EPA, as well as using executive orders to slash abortion access nationwide — without needing to receive Congressional approval.

They're calling it the Heritage Foundation's 2025 Presidential Transition Project. It's almost 1,000 pages long, and its authors include members of the first Trump administration, Students for Life, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America and other anti-abortion organizations. They're also collecting resumes from conservative activists who are interested in becoming political appointees of these agencies to carry out these new anti-abortion measures themselves.

This will enable the Trump administration to have everything and everyone it needs to carry out its goal of rescinding abortion rights everywhere nationwide — no matter where you live.

Danielle, as these groups work on their plan, I've got a plan too. To fight like hell to keep Trump out of the White House, work to re-elect President Biden, flip the House, and expand the Senate with more pro-choice Democrats. That way, we'll have the votes we need to codify abortion rights into federal law.

Splitting a donation to our campaign and the Biden-Harris campaign today is one of the best ways to make sure that the Heritage Foundation's 2025 Presidential Transition Project remains just a radical little pet project and never sees the light of day. re: The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

If you had a boat, Danielle, what would you name it?

Maybe you'd pick a spiffy-sounding word, like "Majestic." Or maybe you'd pay tribute to someone or something you love, like one bank CEO did. He named his boat after something close to his heart: "Overdraft."

The bank he ran was notorious for padding profits by tricking consumers into expensive overdraft charges. Their practices were so egregious that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) sued them.

Too many banks have made an art out of juicing their profits by abusing the overdraft system — hiking fees up to be significantly more than it costs the bank to cover the transaction, or even charging fees when consumers actually had enough money in the bank to cover the withdrawals.

But the CFPB is fighting back — and it's part of the Biden-Harris administration's work to cut junk fees and lower costs for American families.

Just last week, the CFPB announced a plan to slash overdraft fees to as little as $3, which could save consumers more than $3.5 billion a year. Instead of helping CEOs buy new boats on the backs of people they cheated, that's helping working families stay afloat.

That's just the start. The CFPB recently got big financial institutions to return $140 million in illegal junk fees to the people they cheated. And the agency is working to curb excessive credit card late fees, stop banks from charging illegal fees for regular customer service, and remove medical debt from credit reports.

These are new additions to a proud legacy. Since its founding, the CFPB has handled nearly 4 million consumer complaints and forced big financial companies to return over $17 billion directly to Americans they cheated. Service members, veterans, seniors, students and millions of regular families have gotten help from the CFPB. For families on a budget, getting their money back is a very big deal.

Success stories like these remind me why we fought so hard to create the CFPB as part of Wall Street reform. This agency is a perfect example of how we can put government on the side of families. And I will keep fighting to protect it from Republican attacks — including the lawsuit they launched to try to strike down the whole agency.

There's plenty more we need to do to put money and power in the hands of working people. I'm running for re-election to stay in the fight, and to keep making big, structural change like making the CFPB a reality. If you can, please make a donation to help grow our campaign and fuel this fight.
