The right Democrat to beat Rand Paul in Kentucky

Danielle,

Right now, the balance of power in the Senate can be shifted by a single seat. If Democrats lose any ground in the 2022 midterms, Republicans can take back control of the chamber and bring President Biden's agenda to a grinding halt.

It's more important than ever that we get organized and invest in candidates who can protect and expand our majority next year. That's why I am very happy to endorse Charles Booker for U.S. Senate.

Charles is the right Democrat to beat Rand Paul in Kentucky. He's campaigning on a bold progressive agenda that does right by working families and makes sure that billionaires and big corporations pay their fair share.

And Charles isn't just talking the talk. He fights from the heart because he knows what's at stake for working people in the choices that our leaders make. He grew up in one of Kentucky's lowest-income ZIP codes. Sometimes, he went hungry. Sometimes, he had to ration his insulin.

Now, he's fighting for a country where everyone, not just the wealthy and well-connected, has a chance to thrive — in Kentucky and across the country. I couldn't be prouder to offer my support for his campaign. That's why today, I'm asking for your help.

You might be thinking. Gee, isn't Kentucky a red state? Isn't it going to be hard to win? Well, let me tell you a little story.

When I first ran for office in 2012, there were plenty of naysayers who didn't think I couldn't win. My opponent was a popular Republican with buckets and buckets of campaign cash from Wall Street. And a woman had never won as Senator or Governor in Massachusetts before.

But then someone told me something different: "If we don't run, if we don't try, we can't win. And we can't blaze a trail for the next person who comes along either."

So I got into the fight. We got organized. We built the biggest grassroots campaign Massachusetts had ever seen. And we proved the naysayers wrong: We won by 7.5 points.

Kentucky is a state that's ready for big, structural change. And Charles is that special leader who can bring together a winning coalition and flip this seat to help us hold, or better yet expand, our lead in the U.S. Senate. But he can't do it without a strong grassroots team at his side.

If you can, please split a donation today before Charles' very first end-of-month fundraising deadline. Your contribution could make a real difference.

Here's the way I see it, Danielle, when I think about races like these: as Democrats, we don't get anywhere by only taking on fights that we know we're going to win. We take on tough fights because that is a measure of who we are. And Kentucky is winnable. But we don't get what we don't fight for.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth
