I’ll just be blunt, Danielle: If Democrats don’t keep the House in 2020, it’s going to be almost impossible to get anything done for working people in 2021.
And if Republicans take back the House, you know what’ll be on their wish list: giving tax breaks to giant corporations and billionaires, ripping health insurance away from tens of millions of Americans, and cutting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
We need to get in this fight — and that starts with protecting the Democratic swing seats we fought so hard to win in 2018. That’s one powerfully important way we can make sure our government puts people first as we dig our way out of this public health and economic crisis.
Last week, as part of our first round of Warren Democrats endorsements, I endorsed four terrific first-term members of the U.S. House of Representatives running for re-election: Sharice Davids, Abby Finkenauer, Katie Porter, and Lauren Underwood.

Now, I’d like to tell you a little more about these four women:
Sharice Davids (KS-3) has spent her career fighting for economic equality and opportunities for working families. She made history in 2018 when she became one of the first two Native American women to serve in Congress, as well as the first openly LGBTQ person to represent Kansas in Washington.
Sharice has been a champion for Kansas families throughout her first term, fighting to lower the cost of health care and prescription drugs, root out corruption in Washington, and end the epidemic of gun violence in this country. We need to keep her in the House and in the majority, and I'm proud to once again endorse her historic campaign.
The working families of Iowa's 1st District need and deserve a champion who listens and learns from the people. Abby Finkenauer (IA-1) is a relentless fighter for northeast Iowa and working Iowans. I'm endorsing her to keep our majority and put our families at the center of our politics. The stakes have never been higher.
And I am so proud to be supporting Katie Porter (CA-45) in her run for re-election for Congress. I have known Katie for years, as one of my students, and most recently as a national co-chair of my campaign for president.
It has been one of my greatest joys to see her succeed and get results for American families. For nearly two decades, Katie has been a fierce consumer advocate. Every day since elected to Congress, she has worked to fight corruption and hold corporations and members of this administration accountable. Katie flipped a red district by running on the progressive values that are at the core of what Warren Democrats stand for. Katie has always had a vision of how the government can work for the people, and she's proven she's willing to fight for that vision.
Lauren Underwood (IL-14) is a trailblazer in Congress — her informed, health care–focused leadership has made her an excellent representative for her district. She is a formidable champion, spearheading the fight for affordable, quality health care in Congress. Her important, bold work to lower insulin costs, expand care, and improve maternal health for women nationwide is why I'm proud to endorse Lauren.
At a time when health care is the most pressing issue for so many families, it's critical that we have the voice of a registered nurse and health policy expert in Congress. The people of Illinois’ 14th District deserve an accountable, compassionate leader to make their voices heard in Washington. I look forward to continuing to work with Lauren in Congress to create lasting change in our communities.
Sharice, Abby, Katie, and Lauren each flipped Republican seats in 2018 — and Republicans are determined to take those seats back this November. For a lot of members in swing districts, the first re-election campaign is the most difficult — and the most critical.
Sharice, Abby, Katie, and Lauren will keep making us proud as they fight for working families — and for a just recovery to this crisis. But they only have a few days left to hit their critical monthly fundraising goals, and they need our help.
