We also need to stop Republicans from taking back control, because they're already talking about passing a national ban on abortion. Here are three recommendations for U.S. House candidates to support today: Nida Allam (NC-04), Summer Lee (PA-12), and Erica Smith (NC-01). They are proud champions of abortion rights endorsed by Warren Democrats, but Super PACs are spending big to defeat them — and their primary elections are in exactly one week. They need our help to fight back. Now. She just released a brave TV ad sharing the story of how an abortion saved her life last year. "It's important for people like me to talk about our experiences with abortion," she said. "No one will fight harder than me to protect our right to choose." She's pregnant now, and she'll be a congresswoman who lifts up the voices of people who've had abortions, fights for working mothers like her, and delivers real change for working people. But Super PACs have dumped millions of dollars into this race against Nida. She needs our help to come out strong. Summer Lee could flip a GOP-held House seat — and in the battle to protect and expand our slim Democratic majority, the best defense is a good offense. She's a proven champion for racial, economic, and environmental justice, who's already gotten big wins for families as a state legislator. And she's committed to codifying Roe with a national law: "We need to fight like hell. Because fighting for reproductive health care is worth it." But Super PACs are spending big on misleading ads to sling mud against her. We've got to fight by her side in these final days. Erica Smith is a pro-choice pastor with a plan for a Rural New Deal to uplift family farmers, raise the minimum wage, unionize the South, and ensure health care and broadband for all. And she will never stop fighting for reproductive rights: "This is about the fundamental right to make your own choices about your own body." But she's in a tough fight against a primary opponent who's voted to undermine abortion rights, and she's getting smeared by last-minute dark-money attack ads. She needs our help to fight back in the home stretch. Last night, I joined Nida, Summer, and Erica on an organizing call with thousands of grassroots supporters to talk about how we protect reproductive rights going forward. And part of my plan is to make sure these three women are serving in Congress next January. I'm fired up to elect Nida, Summer, and Erica. Let's get them across the finish line in their primary elections next Tuesday. And let's keep fighting side by side to elect more champions of abortion rights up and down the ballot.
