Danielle,
It's Pride Month — a time to commemorate the progress that the LGBTQ+ movement has won since Stonewall, and a moment to galvanize us to keep up the fight for full equality.
Today, I'd like to celebrate by asking if you can help support four terrific LGBTQ+ Democratic candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives.
Two of them — Sharice Davids (Kansas 3rd) and Chris Pappas (New Hampshire 1st) — are running for re-election in competitive districts they flipped in 2018.
Another, Gina Ortiz Jones (Texas 23rd), lost by less than 1,000 votes in 2018, jumped back in to run again in 2020, and is ready to win this November.
And Mondaire Jones (New York 17th) has his primary election tomorrow.
I'm honored to endorse these candidates because they're fighting for an America that works for everyone, not just a thin slice at the top.
Sharice Davids has spent her career fighting for economic equality and opportunities for working families. She made history in 2018 when she became one of the first two Native American women to serve in Congress, as well as the first openly LGBTQ+ person to represent Kansas in Washington.
Sharice has been a champion for Kansas families throughout her first term, fighting to lower the cost of health care and prescription drugs, root out corruption in Washington, and end the epidemic of gun violence in this country.
Mondaire Jones knows that we're in a fight to put power in the hands of working families. With Mondaire in Congress, we'll gain another chance to achieve the hard-fought wins that bring us closer to big, structural change, and I'm glad to stand with him.
In these final critical hours before his primary, we need to do everything we can to fight by his side.
Gina Ortiz Jones was raised by a single mom on the west side of San Antonio, and she will be a tireless champion for working families in Congress.
South and West Texans need a representative who will stand up to corporate special interests and fight for quality health care, a fair and compassionate immigration system, and an economy that works for everyone. That's Gina. She's ready to flip her district and make real change in Washington.
Chris Pappas started working in his family's restaurant at the age of 14, and he's never stopped fighting for workers and small businesses. As a member of the New Hampshire Executive Council, he helped expand Medicaid for 53,000 working families and restore funding for Planned Parenthood.
In Congress, he's fought for clean drinking water and democracy reform, and he made history as New Hampshire's first openly gay representative.
Let's help make sure these four Democrats are all serving in Congress next year.
Together, we can hold onto our House majority, elect Democrats up and down the ballot, and fight for every LGBTQ+ person to be able to be who they are without fear.
