Tick, tock.

Unless MAGA House Republicans get their act together, the federal government is set to shut down at the end of the week. Tick, tock.

How did we get here? Well, they passed a short-term extension after the last near-shutdown. Then they spent about half the time they bought bickering about who'd be their next speaker. And they've been too busy playing political theater to come to the table with a plan that can actually keep the government open.

Let's not forget: in their view, causing chaos is good because it could help put Donald Trump back in the White House. So they don't mind imposing pain on American families.

And it shows. In the year since the GOP took over the House, they've nearly shut down the government once already and nearly crashed the global economy by defaulting on the national debt. When Democrats had control of both houses of Congress, we capped the cost of insulin for seniors, invested in fighting the climate crisis, put a minimum tax on massive corporate profits, and more.

While Republicans keep pushing tax breaks for the wealthy and devastating cuts to critical programs, the Biden-Harris administration and Democrats in Congress will keep working to deliver results.

I will do everything in my power to keep our government up and running and put Washington squarely on the side of working people.
