Here’s what you told me

We've got some big fights ahead of us in 2023, and we'll win them side by side.
Warren Democrats

Danielle,

I'm fighting for a country that works for everyone, not just the wealthy and well-connected — and I'm giving this fight everything I've got — but I can't do it alone.

When we come together as a big grassroots movement, we shine a light on big problems. We put big solutions on the radar. We get organized, we beat the special interests, and we make big, structural change. None of us could get it done by ourselves. But we truly make each other stronger.

Every action you take makes a difference, from sharing an article that changes someone's mind to making a phone call that reminds someone to vote to pitching in some money that builds a campaign from the grassroots level.

If you're in a place where you could make a donation right now, could you contribute $15 or whatever makes sense to strengthen our grassroots movement?

We've got some big fights ahead of us in 2023. The Republican wrecking-ball crew in the House of Representatives is determined to damage our country as much as they can to try to win back the White House in 2024. And we're dealing with a Supreme Court that's been hijacked by right-wing extremists.

But every day, I wake up with hope, because I know what we're fighting for — and I know we can keep moving the ball forward. Sometimes by inches, sometimes by miles, but always persisting towards progress.

That's how, last year, we passed the first corporate tax increase in decades. The first time allowing Medicare to negotiate for lower prescription drug prices. The biggest step ever taken by the federal government to fight climate change.

In 2023 and beyond, I'll keep fighting to protect our democracy, ensure our basic freedoms, and level the playing field for working people in this country. And I'll keep listening to your needs — not the wishes of corporate lobbyists.

Recently, I asked you to share your main priorities for what Democrats should fight for in the new year. I want to pull out a few of the top issues people named: climate, voting rights, taxing the wealthy, gun violence prevention, reproductive rights, Social Security, and campaign finance reform.

People also wrote in about Supreme Court reform (count me in), DC statehood (yep), elder care (absolutely), and ending the Electoral College (I'm right there with you). Some more notes that I wanted to highlight:

"Protecting, Preserving, Saving, Securing, Strengthening, and Expanding Social Security, to all seniors across the country, disabled, and for generations to come."

"There are so many important issues. And as I write this, Republicans are in the House fiddle farting around."

"As a single woman on the cusp of retirement I am concerned with the protection of Social Security and affordable housing. As an Aunt, I hope that my nieces, nephews and the younger generations inherit a habitable and sustainable world."

"We need to codify Roe! As the parent of two daughters of childbearing age, protecting their reproductive health is of utmost importance."

I'll tell you this: I'm in those fights all the way. I'm grateful for everyone who sent in their thoughts, and I'm determined to keep fighting for the change we need to see.

Please chip in if you can to support our campaign, help win those fights, and help put power in the hands of the people — where it belongs.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth
