Danielle, I'm keeping an eye on tight, important races around the country where we could still make an impact before Election Day. And I've got three recommendations for you today. Three U.S. House candidates who need our help. Congresswoman Katie Porter (D-CA) — my friend, my former student, and the best white-board-wielder I've ever seen — is running in a district that just got updated from "Lean Democratic" to "Toss-Up." Summer Lee (D-PA) is up against a new avalanche of over a million dollars in outside spending from a Super PAC. And Jamie McLeod-Skinner (D-OR) is still locked in one of the closest races in the country, which could decide who controls the U.S. House. If it makes sense for you right now, will you split a donation of $15 or any amount between Katie Porter, Summer Lee, Jamie McLeod-Skinner, and our re-election campaign today? If you've saved payment info with ActBlue Express, your donation will process automatically: | Together, we can send Katie Porter back to Congress — and we can bring Summer Lee and Jamie McLeod-Skinner's voices to Washington. Watching Katie Porter's career unfold has been one of my greatest joys, Danielle — ever since the first time she walked into my early-morning bankruptcy class, bright-eyed and ready to go. She's been a fierce consumer advocate for decades. After the 2008 housing crisis, she held big banks' feet to the fire to make sure they paid California families the money they were owed. And as a member of Congress, she's held CEOs accountable, fought to lower the cost of child care, and taken on corporate price gouging. But after the latest round of redistricting, with her district split down the middle between Democrats and Republicans, Katie's in her toughest campaign yet. And expert forecasters just moved this race into the "toss-up" category. We've got to make sure she pulls through. We've got to keep her in Congress. Summer Lee is a proven champion for racial, economic, and environmental justice for all Pennsylvanians — from advocating for better pay and safer working conditions to defeating dangerous corporate fracking proposals. She's been a terrific state representative, and she'd make us proud as a congresswoman. But the same Super PAC that tried to defeat Summer in her primary is now dumping truckloads of cash against her at the last minute. A recent poll had her up by just a few points, with 16 percent undecided — so if Summer can't fight back against these new attacks, they could send her to defeat. And here's a weird coincidence: her Republican opponent has the same name as the retiring Democratic congressman in that district. It's already tripped up some voters who meant to vote Democratic. So Summer's team has to work even harder to make sure people know that she is the Democratic nominee. Over in Oregon, Jamie McLeod-Skinner has built a strong campaign from the grassroots level — I saw it firsthand when I went to her district and spoke with a bunch of volunteers getting ready to go knock on doors. Jamie's a small business owner, experienced public servant, and emergency response coordinator who's running hard against corporate special interests like Big Pharma. But we've got to help her fight back against all the outside spending pouring in against her — because our side is getting beaten on the airwaves. This could be one of the tightest congressional races in the country, and it could decide who controls the U.S. House. Every dollar we send Jamie's way can help get her message out to more voters by Election Day. We still have the power to make a difference in the outcome of these races — and that gives me hope. Please split a $15 contribution between Katie Porter, Summer Lee, Jamie McLeod-Skinner, and Warren Democrats today to help defend our House majority and elect champions for working people across the country. I'm deeply grateful for everything you've already done leading up to these midterm elections, Danielle. Just a few days left. Let's give this fight everything we've got. Thanks for being a part of this, Elizabeth |
