Danielle, Last night's presidential address to Congress felt different in a lot of ways. There weren't as many of us in the chamber. We were all wearing masks, and sitting spaced out. But one change was actually for the better: for the first time in American history, two women were up there at the dais. Madam Vice President and Madam Speaker. I hope little girls everywhere were watching — and dreaming big. Mostly, though, it was the same type of event Americans have seen for decades now. A president got up and gave his vision for America. Laid out what he's fighting for and how we're all a part of it. I jumped up to my feet and applauded when President Biden talked about fighting to fix our broken child care system — because I knew that millions of parents were letting out a big sigh of relief. Danielle, this one's personal for me. Not having good, reliable child care nearly knocked me out of the game when I was starting out as a working mother. We need to put our government on the side of families, and that means investing serious resources in child care and early education — because, just like roads and bridges, it is infrastructure that makes it possible for people to go to work. So I've got a bill with Congressman Mondaire Jones — who won his seat last year after Warren Democrats endorsed him and fought by his side — to invest $700 billion in universal child care and universal pre-k. I'm in that fight all the way. Even though we've got a lot of big fights ahead, I'm more optimistic than ever about the future we can build together. In 100 days, the Biden-Harris administration has led our recovery with competence, compassion, and a real commitment to structural change. Side by side, we can keep pushing for the bold reforms that we need. Let's get to work, Danielle. Thanks for being a part of this, Elizabeth Our next big fundraising deadline is tomorrow at midnight. Grassroots donors like you are powering the fight for big, structural change. If you can, will you chip in $100.00 or whatever makes sense right now to help re-elect Elizabeth and put more Warren Democrats in office across the country? | |
