| Danielle, here are three reasons why I'm about to ask if you can make a donation to our re-election campaign before midnight tonight: - A Super PAC supporting my Republican opponent (a crypto lawyer from Rhode Island recruited to run against me) recently raked in $2 million from three massive donations — from two crypto billionaires and one big crypto firm.
- With our primary in Massachusetts coming up, we're required to report out our fundraising numbers more often, and our next fundraising deadline is tonight.
- The special interests who are trying to defeat me will be looking at this next public fundraising report to gauge what they're up against, and whether or not they invest more into this race.
I know for certain our grassroots movement is stronger than their money and influence, but one powerful way to demonstrate that is through our next fundraising report. A donation of any amount before midnight will show how many people are fed up with special interests buying elections and hand-picking politicians who only work for them. So if you're able, please pitch in $100 or anything you can so we can compete and defeat them. | If you've saved payment info with ActBlue Express, your donation will process automatically: | This is a trend that continues repeating itself in elections across the country. Powerful special interests use their piles of money to fund campaigns and support Super PACs for politicians that will bow to them and work in their favor. They use their money to hire armies of lobbyists that swarm Capitol Hill. They use their money to put the government on their side, all so they can make even bigger piles of money. But we've got a powerful tool on our side too: a grassroots movement. In the long run, to make our country work not just for a thin slice at the tippy-top but for everyone, we've got to overturn Citizens United and enact sweeping anti-corruption legislation (yes, I've got a plan for that). But for now, we've got to shore up our defenses against Super PAC spending and anything else the far right throws at us. Together, we'll keep working to stop big money from drowning out the voices of working families. But first, we need to secure the resources we need to fight back and win re-election. Not everyone who reads this note will be able to chip in, and that's okay. But if you are in the position to make a donation tonight, it would be a huge help, Danielle. Thanks for being a part of this, Elizabeth | | |
