Women are not stupid

This is not happening.

Danielle, women are not stupid.

JD Vance recently claimed that if Trump were to be president again, he would veto a national abortion ban bill.

Does he really think that after they both have openly bragged about blocking access to abortion — and after Donald Trump has repeatedly bragged about how he was the one who appointed the extremist Supreme Court that got rid of Roe v. Wade — that somehow we're all going to say, "Wow, you guys are the ones to trust on this"?

That's just not happening.

Today, 30% of all women live in states that effectively ban abortion — something that Trump and Vance have celebrated. With them in the White House, they'll aim for 100%.

They are coming after abortion everywhere in this country. They're coming after IVF in this country, and they're coming after contraception — birth control, IUDs, Plan B, everything. Not just in red states, but nationally — red states, blue states, purple states, everywhere.

They can try to soften and message test their extreme anti-abortion stances all they want, but, again, women are not stupid. And we are not going to trust the futures of our daughters and granddaughters to these two men.

I'm going to spend the rest of this election calling out their extremist record on abortion and make sure Democrats win the White House, keep our Senate majority, and pass national abortion protections. Can you pitch in $100 or anything you can right now to power our campaign for abortion rights?

There's a page in Project 2025 that covers this. It says that if Donald Trump is president, he can put in the right person over at the Department of Justice to enforce an interpretation of an old law called the Comstock Act that says you can't mail or receive any medication or any equipment that could be used in an abortion.

We don't have to guess whether or not JD Vance would follow this Project 2025 directive. Vance sent a letter last year to the Department of Justice asking them to enforce the Comstock Act.

As Tim Walz says, you don't make a playbook unless you're planning to use it. There's already a plan in place for this.

The only way we're going to protect access to abortion is by getting a Democratic Congress and sending a federal abortion rights bill to Kamala Harris to sign into law.

Ever since Roe v. Wade was overturned, voters have been fighting back. In election after election ever since — in Kansas, in Michigan, in Ohio, in Virginia, and more — they keep reminding anti-abortion extremists how out of touch they really are.

This election will be no different. But we need to fight hard for this, and put in the work now to make sure we win.

If you're able to, please pitch in $100 or anything you can right now to power this fight for abortion rights.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth

re: crypto spending this cycle

While the September 3 primary date is circled on our calendars, there's another critical period of time that I'm keeping my eye on

Danielle, our primary in Massachusetts is just one week away from today. Voters will head to the polls and exercise their right to make their voices heard — it's an exciting time.

While the September 3 primary date is circled on our calendars, there's another critical period of time that I'm keeping my eye on: the days immediately following our primary.

You see, after our primary, my Republican opponent will be officially nominated, and the floodgates of Super PAC funding and outside spending in this race can open.

The front-running Republican nominee is a crypto lawyer recruited from Rhode Island to run against me. He's got a Super PAC behind him that has raised millions of dollars from crypto interests to unseat me.

This is a trend that continues repeating itself in elections across the country. Powerful special interests keep using their giant piles of money to influence elections: buying onslaughts of advertising against candidates who threaten their bottom line, getting their hand-picked candidates elected, and reaping the rewards of their investments when the winners tilt the rules in their favor.

The special interest of the month in Massachusetts is cryptocurrency. And according to Axios, crypto companies have poured massive amounts of money into the 2024 federal election cycle — accounting for about half of all donations from corporations.

This is what we're up against, Danielle. There's no saying for certain what will happen after our primary, but we do certainly need to be prepared.

So, with one week until we enter the general election, will you please pitch in $100 or anything you can to support our re-election campaign in Massachusetts, fight back against special interests buying our elections, and defend our Senate majority?

September, October, and November are the months when the most spending and voter contact takes place in an election. That's a big reason why your support right now is so critical.

From now until Election Day, we're going to keep getting our message out to the people of Massachusetts. And we'll keep up the fight for passing a wealth tax, holding big banks and financial institutions accountable, overturning Citizens United and enacting sweeping anti-corruption legislation, instituting Supreme Court reform, and defending our Senate majority so we can pass national abortion protections.

Our people-powered movement to stop corporate greed and level the playing field for working families is a major threat to Republicans' pro-billionaire agenda and the special interests who fund it. So we can't underestimate how much money they could pour into this race in the next couple of months.

They've got their crypto firms and billionaires — but we've got you and this grassroots movement. I like our chances, but we have to do everything we possibly can to make sure we can stay competitive — and win.

If you're able to contribute today, please pitch in a donation of $100 or any amount to help defeat the right-wing forces and corporate interests who want me — and this movement — out of the U.S. Senate.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth

Danielle, did you catch Elizabeth's speech at the Democratic National Convention last night?

Elizabeth Warren gets emotional as DNC crowd cheers Mass. senator for over a minute
A gif of Elizabeth Warren at the convention

(If you haven't had the chance to watch yet, you can here!)

Elizabeth spoke about why Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are the candidates we can trust to look out for our families — and why Donald Trump and JD Vance aren't. (As Elizabeth put it: she wouldn't even trust them to move her couch.)

And the reception in the room is a testament to our progressive movement we've built together for big, structural change. Our fight for bold ideas like a two-cent wealth tax, student debt cancellation, taking on big corporations, and confronting corruption in Washington head-on.

From creating the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, to defeating a popular Republican incumbent and getting elected to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts in 2012, to launching a campaign for president in 2019 built on ideas and progressive values, to helping elect Warren Democrats up and down the ballot and across the country, to now standing up against corporate megadonors who want to buy this Senate seat in 2024, our movement has taken on plenty of fights in plenty of forms.

And throughout them all, we've always fought to put power in the hands of working people. We've shown that we can use the power of government to transform people's lives. From canceling $168.5 billion in student debt so far to passing a minimum tax on massive corporations that were paying $0 in taxes, we've proven that bold ideas can be transformed into real policies and real change is possible — when we organize and when we fight.

As Elizabeth says: "Choose to fight only righteous fights, because then when things get tough — and they will — you will know that there is only one option ahead of you: nevertheless, you must persist."

This is a powerful moment in our democracy — and last night showed how so many volunteers, grassroots donors, and Democratic supporters are fired up to get in this fight. It's time to keep channeling that energy.

Let's continue to fight our righteous fight together, elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, defend our Senate Majority, and keep up the fight to make our government work for working people.

We couldn't be more grateful to fight by your side, Danielle. If you're able, please pitch in $100 or anything you can to support Elizabeth's re-election campaign and continue growing our movement.
