Bailey believes you can never have Kenough Halloween spirit

Bailey and I have always loved Halloween, and this year is no different (you can scroll down to see his costume for tonight).

But before the festivities begin, I wanted to take a moment to talk about something else happening today: our monthly fundraising deadline.

Every donation helps push back against MAGA Republicans — and there's nothing quite as scary as their extremist agenda, Danielle.

They pose a very real threat to working families across the country. They want to ban abortion nationwide, slash funding for child care, cut taxes for the ultra-wealthy, gut Social Security and Medicare, and rig the rules against working families.

And if they gain any more power next year, they'll not only slam the brakes on our whole agenda, they'll work to aggressively reverse the progress Democrats have been making.

An update on Elizabeth’s re-election

Danielle, we wanted to give you an update on where things stand with Elizabeth's re-election campaign.

The truth is, we don't have a challenger in Massachusetts yet, but that could change at any moment, and we need to be prepared to run a competitive race to make sure Elizabeth can continue fighting in the Senate.

The chair of the Massachusetts Republican Party recently shared that they will put up a Republican challenger for this race — and GOP insiders have been strategizing on who that will be.

When she first ran for Senate, she started out 17 points down from the popular Republican incumbent who had truckfulls of campaign cash from Wall Street.

But Elizabeth campaigned hard. She called out how our system is rigged for the wealthy and well-connected and against everyone else. And we won — by 7.5 points.

Since then, Elizabeth has been up against some powerful special interests trying to stop her and our movement: extremist Republicans, Big Pharma, Big Oil, and Big Banks who use their deep pockets to try to stop Elizabeth's plans.

But because of this grassroots movement, we've been able to compete against their money and influence and make positive change.

Elizabeth is running for re-election because there's a lot more we've got to do to make our government work for everyone in Massachusetts and across the country, not just the wealthy and well-connected. It's going to take a strong grassroots movement to keep up this fight.

Pundits, strategists, and special interests will look for any signs of weakness right now. That's why it's incredibly critical that we continue to hit our grassroots fundraising goals, and we've got our important October deadline tomorrow. “How high?”

Powerful interests — fossil fuel giants, Big Pharma, billionaire CEOs, you name it — have a very handy tool at their disposal: piles and piles of money.

They use their money to fund campaigns for politicians who ask "How high?" when they say "Jump." They use their money to hire armies of lobbyists that swarm Capitol Hill. They use their money to put government on their side, all so they can make even bigger piles of money.

But we've got a powerful tool on our side too, Danielle: a grassroots movement. And we're delivering results.

Side by side, we took back the House. We flipped the White House. We won the Senate. And we used that power to beat those powerful interests and make real change for working people, including:

The biggest-ever American investment in fighting climate change, which will help reduce carbon emissions by 40% by 2030.
The first-ever authorization for Medicare to negotiate lower prescription drug prices — and a guaranteed $35 cap on monthly insulin costs for people on Medicare.
A 15% minimum corporate tax — so billionaire corporations can't get away with reporting billions in profits and paying nothing in taxes.
Getting student debt canceled for millions of borrowers — despite the Supreme Court substituting politics for the rule of law and striking down President Biden's broader plan.

Democrats win when we go out there and unapologetically fight for the big, structural change we need — to stand up to powerful special interests and advocate for real change for working people. I'm going to continue fighting for this.
