So the Supreme Court doesn’t want to agree to some formal ethics standards? I’m shocked…

I'm fighting to pass my Judicial Ethics and Anti-Corruption Act as part of my plan to root corruption out of Washington.

Danielle, tired of seeing countless headlines about Supreme Court scandals? So is Chief Justice John Roberts, apparently.

According to a recent CNN story, he tried to get all nine Supreme Court justices to agree to some formal ethics standards.

But, no dice.

Maybe he couldn't persuade Justice Samuel Alito, who's recently been dismissing the need for reform in op-ed pieces.

(Yes, that's the same Justice Alito who got a free ride on a private jet and took a luxury fishing trip to Alaska with a GOP megadonor who later had cases before the Supreme Court. No, he doesn't appear to have any shame.)

Or maybe Justice Clarence Thomas was the hold-out. After all, he's made headlines for  accepting undisclosed luxury travel gifts from a different GOP megadonor — we're talking private jets, superyachts, and exclusive resorts.

No matter whose fingerprints are on the Chief Justice's failure, it looks like we can't count on the Supreme Court to clean up their own act. But I've got a bill to do it for them — the Judicial Ethics and Anti-Corruption Act.

Pure and simple, their little honor system just isn't cutting it. This plan would impose an enforceable code of conduct on the Supreme Court, tighten restrictions on gifts and privately funded travel, strengthen ethical standards up and down our judiciary, and ban federal judges — including Supreme Court justices — from owning individual stock.

I haven't the slightest clue why Justice Alito or Justice Thomas would disagree, but I feel like members of the nation's highest court should be held to the highest standard of ethics. I'm fighting to pass my Judicial Ethics and Anti-Corruption Act and fighting to root corruption out of Washington — with the most sweeping set of reforms since Watergate.

And I'm running for re-election to get this done. But I can't get there alone. Can you pitch in $100 or any amount to support our campaign and help build our movement for bold reform?
