Danielle, Far-right Republican Senator Ron Johnson announced that he's running for re-election, going back on his word that he wouldn't be seeking another term in office. Now, I'm not all that surprised by Ron Johnson's dishonesty, Danielle — he's proven to be one of the leading spreaders of misinformation in the Trump era, on everything from election integrity to the coronavirus pandemic. What did catch my eye, however, was his rationale for wanting to remain in office. According to Johnson, Democratic governance is why he's chosen to go back on his word, because of "the disastrous policies [the Democrats] have already inflicted on America and the world." The way I see it, we need even more progressive policies and more progressive Democrats in the Senate who are willing to fight for them. And replacing far-right Republicans like Ron Johnson with progressives like my friend Mandela Barnes is a good place to start.
