Wishing you peace and joy this holiday season.

Happy holidays, Danielle.

I want to share how grateful I am to have you on this team — and also share a movie recommendation if you're open to it.

Bruce and I named our dog Bailey after George Bailey in It's A Wonderful Life. We had hoped that our Bailey would be as kind and loyal as the fictional George Bailey — and that he would also stand up to Big Bank executives.

This time of year, thinking about George Bailey's big-hearted grit, I think about all the Americans who dig deep every day to take care of the people they love and strengthen our communities. Everyone who's taking time this holiday season to volunteer at a food bank. Everyone who makes it a mission to get to know their neighbors and look out for them. Everyone who's squaring their shoulders, clearing their throats, and speaking out against the Mr. Potters of the world.

That's what this team is all about.

Bruce, Bailey, and I are wishing you and your loved ones a happy, healthy, wonderful holiday.

Thank you for all that you do. And thanks, as always, for being a part of this.

I’ll just be blunt:

One way to fight back is by supporting people-powered campaigns built on grassroots donations like ours.
͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌
͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌

I'll just be blunt: If you're in a place where you can make a contribution to support our grassroots campaign today, it would be a huge help. Let me explain:

Our nation is at a turning point as we enter 2026. Will we be a country that rewards the wealthy and well-connected, or will we build an economy that works for working families?

Americans are seeing on full display where Donald Trump and the GOP's priorities are: Ripping health care away from people. Skyrocketing the cost of everything with their chaotic tariffs. Building gilded ballrooms and bailing out Argentina. Serving billionaires and corporate executives.

We need to fight back. One way to do that is by supporting people-powered campaigns built on grassroots donations like ours. It's a way to show how our democracy can run differently, without the control of billionaires and giant corporations.

After December's FEC fundraising deadline, we'll tally up all the donations we've received this quarter. The total amount raised matters, yes, but here's the number I'll really have my eye on: The total number of contributions. Because that's the number that shows just how many people are not letting this Administration stop us — and are still in this fight for big, structural change.

So if making a financial contribution would make sense right now, could you pitch in $100 or any amount today?

I want you to know that I never expect you to donate to every email, and I'm always grateful to work alongside you no matter how much, how often, or whether you're able to contribute.

If you are in a place to make a contribution, your support today will help demonstrate that there's strong support for what our campaign is fighting for.

In order to defeat Trump in 2026 and beyond, Democrats must speak to the real economic anxieties that families are feeling right now, and have the courage to fight for the policies that will make their lives easier — even if pundits say it'll never happen or if it bothers billionaires.

That's what we're fighting for. Now, when our public fundraising numbers come out, political pundits, Republican operatives, special interests, Big Tech moguls, Wall Street executives, and far-right ideologues will scour them for any signs of weakness.

They'll want to use our fundraising results to tell a story about how our movement is unpopular, and we don't have what it takes to fight for the changes we're calling for.

This is a chance to prove them wrong, Danielle.

In order to hit our goals, campaign hard in 2026, and make real change for working people, we're relying on a strong response to this email today. So if you're able to, please pitch in any amount ahead of our next critical fundraising deadline — and help power our fight.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth

Danielle,

In a minute, I'm going to ask you to split a donation to support Katie Porter's campaign for governor in California and our movement. But first, I want to talk about why I'm supporting Katie, and why your support matters.

Katie shares the lived experience of millions of Californians she's running to represent — people who work hard, who want to raise healthy kids in good homes without it costing an arm and a leg, and who understand what it's like to anxiously review their receipts after visiting the grocery store.

Katie has what it takes to lead her state through this affordability crisis.

But a statewide election in California requires a lot of money, and Katie can't bankroll her own race with her billions of dollars. And she's not taking contributions from corporations and lobbyists.

She's counting on grassroots supporters to power her campaign and win in California. So Danielle, can you split a donation of $100 or whatever makes sense for you to support Katie's campaign and strengthen our movement to make America more affordable for every family?

If you've saved payment info with ActBlue Express, your donation will process automatically:

I still remember the day when I met Katie. My consumer law class was early in the morning, meaning a lot of students had their heads down, trying to avoid being called on.

But not Katie. She was determined and ready to go. When the first answer she gave wasn't her strongest, she came to my office hours and said, "Please keep calling on me. I am going to learn to do this."

Getting to know her, I saw her bone-deep commitment to making a difference in people's lives.

When Katie decided to run for Congress in 2018, I was very happy to support her. I knew that we needed more people like her in Washington — who understood the real struggles that working families faced, who had the courage to stand up to big corporations and special interests, and who would fight to make our government work for everyone.

A Democrat hadn't represented her district for decades, but she knew exactly how to personally connect with voters, build a strong movement, and win. She flipped that seat, and she's been winning for working people ever since.

Simply put, Katie delivers. She's smart and she isn't afraid. She stands up to Wall Street and Big Pharma, she holds fossil fuel companies accountable, and she fights to protect Californians' rights against Trump's far-right administration. She is exactly who Californians need as their next governor.

So please, if you can, split a donation of $100 or whatever makes sense between Katie's campaign and our movement. We're going to keep fighting to make our government work for working people — and we need you in this fight.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth

Magical thinking in a rambling speech

Donald Trump is what happens when a system rewards the rich and powerful at the expense of everyone else.

Danielle,

It's never been more evident that our economy isn't working for the majority of Americans.

Just this week, Trump engaged in magical thinking in a rambling speech, claiming that his economy is "booming" and that affordability is nothing but a "con job" and a "hoax".

The economy where 1 out of every 2 Americans are worried they won't be able to afford health care next year.

The economy where nearly 10 million Americans are working multiple jobs to make ends meet — the highest share in 25 years.

The economy where 1 in 4 American households lives paycheck to paycheck.

Donald Trump and the GOP are working diligently to shovel more money to their billionaire friends at the expense of working people.

But here's the truth: Trump is not the cause of everything that's broken in America.

Don't get me wrong, he has certainly poured gasoline on the fire. But blaming Trump for all of our problems is not going to put the fire out.

There are systemic issues that led to someone like him getting elected in the first place. He is the worst symptom of a corrupt system that rewards the rich and powerful at the expense of everyone else.

This system has plagued us for years. It's a system where Reagan's trickle-down experiment failed — and is still failing — America's middle class.

A system that has made it harder and harder to start and join a union.

A system that says that companies donating exorbitant amounts of money to a political campaign is a form of "free speech."

A system where the government bailed out banks rather than homeowners after the 2008 financial crisis.

A system that allows a family to go bankrupt because they dared to receive medical care.

Look, we must call out and tend to the root causes of the deep problems in our economy, our government, and our democracy — the problems that existed way before Donald Trump rode down that elevator in 2015.

That's what I'm focused on while we also fight back against the harms the Trump administration brings us over the next four years.

The Democratic party must, must, must fight back with defiant action instead of just pushing back with great reluctance — while also connecting the dots between today's crises, yesterday's systemic causes, and the solutions we're championing.

It's going to take a lot of work to untangle this system — with political leaders fighting for the bold solutions and a strong grassroots movement calling for a better way forward.

That's why it's so important for you to stay in this fight, Danielle.

If Democrats can show the American people what it means for a government to actually work for working people — and draw contrasts between that and what the Trump Administration is actually doing — then we can lay a strong foundation for a new way forward in the midterms and beyond.

If you're in a position to make a contribution, can you donate $28 or whatever you can to help build our grassroots movement and build a government that works for working people?
