Here’s where things stand on the shutdown

Warren for Senate

Once again, Republicans have brought us to the brink of a government shutdown if Congress does not pass a budget before midnight tonight.

I want to talk about how we got here, and where things stand right now.

This summer, Republicans passed a law that eliminates health care benefits for 15 million people and makes the biggest cuts to health care in modern history — all to give a trillion dollars in tax handouts to billionaires and billionaire corporations.

What does cutting a trillion dollars out of our health care budget actually look like?

Rural hospitals will be closed. Seniors in nursing homes who rely on Medicaid will be kicked to the curb. People will entirely lose the coverage they rely on. Medical research for cancer and Alzheimer's will end. And people will get letters in the mail telling them that their monthly insurance costs are going to go way, way, way up. In fact, your health care premium could more than double if Congress fails to act.

This will affect the cost of health care for everybody in America.

So Democrats are telling Republicans that if they want our help funding the Trump administration, then they've got to restore health care funding before millions of people get hurt. We're not even asking for new money here. We just want the government to restore that health care funding, roll back the medical research cuts, and prevent insurance premiums from going up.

What are Republicans saying to that? "No." They refuse to even negotiate. They don't want to talk about it. Donald Trump has told them to walk away. They are just crossing their arms and saying, "No."

So it seems like Republicans are forging ahead with their plan to shut down the government rather than restore health care for millions of Americans. They don't care about the consequences it will have on you or your family.

Democrats should not stand by and hand over our votes while millions of people face higher costs and lose their access to health care.

NOW is the time to use our votes in the Senate to fight for the American people. That's our job.

This isn't about politics. This is about fighting for what is right. This is about getting people health care.

Republicans are going to try to put the blame on anyone but themselves. They own this health care crisis. And Donald Trump is in charge of the White House and Republicans control both chambers of Congress. They will own this government shutdown — a shutdown that will create even more chaos and economic stress.

It doesn't have to be this way. I'm going to continue urging the Republicans to sit down with us and pass a budget that keeps the government running and restores health care funding.

This is a fight worth having. We can't just hand a blank check to Donald Trump and say, "Do whatever you want." Now is the time to stand up for our values, and I'm in this fight all the way.

More from me soon,

Elizabeth

This election will send a resounding message

The bigger Democrats win in Virginia, the louder a message we'll send ahead of the 2026 midterms.
͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌

The race for Governor of Virginia is neck-and-neck, Danielle — and early voting is already underway. That's why I'm asking you to split a donation between Abigail Spanberger and our campaign — to help her become the next governor of Virginia and keep up our fight to get Democrats elected up and down the ballot.

Here's why the stakes in this race are high:

  • 350,000 Virginians just lost their health care as a result of the "Big Beautiful Bill." Virginia needs a champion who will take bold action to protect health care, not strip it away.
  • Abigail's opponent is in lockstep with Trump's agenda — even waving off the White House laying off thousands of Virginia workers by saying, "don't fret."
  • The governor's race in Virginia is the only one where a seat could flip from red to blue in 2025 — and we can send a clear message that we outright reject what Republicans are doing right now.

Danielle, this is the most important election of Trump's second term so far. National Republicans are throwing millions of dollars into this race, and Trump himself has started launching attacks.

With voters headed out to the polls right now, will you split $100 or anything you can between our campaign and Abigail Spanberger's to help her compete and win? Your support will strengthen our fight to make life more affordable and protect our freedoms.

Warren for Senate

Danielle,

Right now we need to build our power in the Senate with true fighters for the working class. Billionaires have taken over the government. Republicans in Congress won't stand up as Donald Trump wrecks our economy. And working families who were already struggling to get by are now paying even more for everyday needs.

We need something totally different.

That's why I'm supporting my friend Peggy Flanagan as she runs for Senate in Minnesota — and why I'm asking if you can split a donation of $100 or anything you can ahead of the critical FEC fundraising deadline on September 30 to help her campaign compete and win.

Peggy is tough, smart, experienced, and ready to take on corrupt special interests to make life better for working families.

She knows what it's like to struggle to get by in this economy. She's the daughter of a single mother who understands what it's like to worry the bottom could fall out at any moment. That experience drove her fight to raise the minimum wage and make paid family leave a reality for Minnesotans.

She's won statewide office in Minnesota not once, but twice. She fights from the heart and she knows how to win.

She's the partner I need in the Senate to make real progress on the issues that matter most right now: Housing, childcare, and the cost of living.

But winning this race will not be easy. Peggy isn't taking a dime of corporate PAC money because she is running to support working families — not special interests. That means she's relying on the support of this grassroots team to help her compete.

If you're able, please split a donation now to support Peggy Flanagan and our campaign before the September 30 fundraising deadline. Your support will help send a champion for working families to the Senate and power our fight for an economy that works for all of us — not just the billionaires and giant corporations.

Running for office is an act of hope. And Peggy gives me so much hope.

Thanks for being part of this,

Elizabeth

Danielle, this is why I’m asking:

͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌

Warren for Senate

I'll get right down to it, Danielle: Our next FEC fundraising deadline is coming up at midnight on Tuesday, and we haven't quite hit our goal yet, so I'm going to ask if you can pitch in.

But first, I want to talk about a few reasons why your contribution would make a real difference right now.

Hitting our quarterly fundraising target will ensure we can power our movement that's fighting back against Donald Trump and the far-right — and making the case for the Democratic party to embrace economic policies that will make big, structural change for working people.

Your support will ensure our team can continue traveling across the country to connect with voters and bring them into our movement ahead of the midterms.

And your donation will also show how many people in California and across the country support the big ideas we're fighting for — like passing a wealth tax and making billionaires pay their fair share, getting Big Money out of politics, banning members of Congress from trading stocks, and reining in Big Tech, to name a few.

After this deadline, when our fundraising numbers go public, Republican operatives and powerful special interests will scour them to try to gauge our strength. So let's use this opportunity to show them how many of us are pushing back against their extremism and fighting to get corruption out of our politics.

If it makes sense for you right now, please chip in $100 or any amount before Tuesday's midnight FEC deadline to help fuel our work and send a powerful message to the special interests we're fighting against.

If you've saved payment info with ActBlue Express, your donation will process automatically:

Every contribution makes us stronger as a grassroots movement. More ready to take on the big fights. More equipped to reach more and more voters with our message.

And grassroots donors like you make it clear that we can power our campaigns without relying on powerful special interests — so we can put Washington to work for working people.

We're building this movement the right way — person to person, shoulder to shoulder. But it's only possible if a lot of people pitch in a little at a time to build something powerful.

Can you make a donation before our September 30 deadline to help make this FEC fundraising report as strong as possible, and help our movement make as much change as possible?

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth
