Trump’s Texas powergrab

Trump knows he's deeply unpopular, and so he's trying to rig the maps to avoid a shellacking in the 2026 midterms.

Danielle,

Texas Republicans just released their proposed redistricting map, which sets them up to steal five congressional seats in the midterm elections.

Let's back up for a second to talk about what's going on here. Redistricting typically happens every 10 years after new census data is released. But this month, Trump demanded that Texas "do a very simple redraw" to gerrymander districts so Republicans can "pick up five seats."

Governor Greg Abbott was more than happy to follow Trump's orders. While much of the state was recovering from deadly flooding, Texas Republicans decided now would be a good time to make their districts even more gerrymandered than they already were.

We need to call this what it is: Republicans are trying to rig Congressional maps so that they can hold on to power in the 2026 midterms and beyond. What happens next in Texas could be the difference between Democrats taking back the House in 2026 and checking Trump's power — or Republicans feeling free to gerrymander every state they control to try to keep their stranglehold on power.

Put simply: This is a whole lot bigger than Texas.

Will you split a donation with Texas Democrats and our campaign to continue standing up to the far-right and power the fight on the ground to stop this attack on our democracy?

You might be asking why Trump ordered the Texas legislature to force through a gerrymandered map. Maybe you're also wondering why Texas Republicans are bending over backwards to do his bidding.

It's pretty straightforward: Trump knows that his popularity is at an all-time low with the American people. He's losing his base over broken promises that range from lowering costs to refusing to release the Epstein files. Voters are waking up to the fact that his "Big Beautiful Bill" is only beautiful for billionaires and giant corporations, not for everyday working people.

But instead of listening to voters or asking themselves what they can do to actually earn their votes, they're turning to gerrymandering.

It's absolutely critical that we stand up to Trump's latest act as a wannabe king. What happens in Texas will have ripple effects across the country. I'm going to keep sounding the alarm about what's happening in Texas and make it clear that Trump is blatantly trying to silence voters, with Republicans all too willing to help.

If you're in a position to give, please split a donation between my campaign and Texas Democrats to raise the alarm and defend against this authoritarian attempt to hold onto power.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth

I refuse to throw my hands up and wait

The contrast couldn't be more stark

Danielle,

You might have recently seen the news that Speaker Johnson ended the House session very early to avoid having to vote on releasing the Epstein files.

That's how far they will go to evade transparency and follow Trump's orders.

So, even though the country is experiencing an affordability crisis right now, House Republicans would rather not get to work on it.

Even though inflation surged by 2.7% in June, House Republicans would rather not get to work on it.

Even though child care costs are now more expensive than a mortgage in 45 states — and have jumped 29% since 2020 — House Republicans would rather not get to work on it.

Real efficient of them.

This halt in the House of Representatives is just another way Trump and the GOP are not making good on their promise to lower costs for families. But I'm still going to keep doing everything I can to pass important plans and get things done for the American people.

In fact, I've recently introduced my bipartisan "Renewing Opportunity in the American Dream to Housing Act" — which would invest in expanding housing supply and address the housing affordability crisis. It just passed in the Senate Banking Committee.

I'm going to keep fighting to pass the policies that will help working people right now. GOP leadership is free to pitch in whenever they come to their senses and realize that they're here to represent the voters who elected them — not Donald Trump.

We must keep fighting with the tools and the Congress that we have — and I'm knocking on every single door that might be open to making real change. Will you chip in anything you can to help fuel this work in the Senate?

The contrast couldn't be more stark, Danielle.

As college becomes increasingly out of reach for students, the GOP responds by reducing Pell grants and federal loans for students.

Health care costs are skyrocketing, and the GOP thinks it's a good idea to kick 16 million people off of their health insurance.

While costs climb for basics like groceries and household items, Trump and his lackeys in Congress are doubling down on their disastrous on-again off-again tariff policies.

And now they're showing that they'd rather shield the Epstein files that Donald Trump doesn't want discussed instead of doing anything to tackle the affordability crisis we're in.

Democrats must retake our majorities in the Senate and the House in order to mitigate the damage from the Trump administration and actually pass the economic reforms that working families need — and I'll do everything I can to elect more Democrats up and down the ballot in 2026.

But I also refuse to throw my hands up and wait until then to try to make progress.

I'm going to keep trying to get things done with the Congress we do have now, fight back against the far-right, and elect more fighters for the working class in 2026 and beyond.

If you're able to, will you pitch in whatever makes sense to support our grassroots movement focused on making real progress for working people? I would be incredibly grateful.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth

Roy Cooper

Here's why we need to win this seat.

Danielle,

It's easy to feel defeated these days with the policies coming out of Washington nearly every day.

Pickpocketing the middle class to put even more money in billionaires' pockets. Cutting critical jobs at agencies that keep our country running. Destroying cornerstones of the middle class like Social Security, Medicaid, and public education.

You and I know there's another path. But it's going to require fighting back, and taking back our Senate majority.

Just today, Roy Cooper announced he's running for Senate in North Carolina — in what will be a highly competitive race. Under his leadership as governor, Roy passed pay raises for public school teachers, built a strong economy by investing in clean energy and in North Carolinians, and expanded Medicaid — covering more than 650,000 more people.

Put simply: He's the kind of leader working families need in Washington right now.

North Carolina will be a must-win state for Democrats. So will you split a donation today between our campaign and Roy Cooper's to ensure his campaign launches with the strongest support possible? Your support will fuel our fight to take back our Senate majority in 2026.

North Carolina's Senate election is set to be the most competitive of 2026, with The Hill rating this the most likely Senate seat to flip red-to-blue. Winning this seat is essential to our chances of taking back the Senate.

But that means Republicans are ready to do everything possible to stop Democrats from winning this state, with Donald Trump already handpicking RNC Chair Michael Whatley to run against him.

Roy Cooper is someone who'll fight to defend Medicaid, secure voting rights, invest in job growth, restore abortion access, and protect our environment. It's past time we have a Senate that works to create prosperity for every American — and that's why this Senate race is so critical.

Help Roy Cooper's campaign start off strong and flip North Carolina's Senate seat in 2026. If you can, please split a donation today to support Roy's campaign and ours.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth
