Danielle, Stopping Trump and the MAGA movement this November means competing in tough races across the country, and every single one matters. These are the handful of Senate races that I’m watching especially closely. These candidates are all taking on corporate greed, fighting to bring down costs, and standing up to Trump. They know whose side they’re on: working people, not the wealthy special interests that have too much power in Washington. Here’s who I’m counting on to help Democrats win up and down the ballot this November, and why I’m asking you to help them win.
- Abdul El-Sayed, Michigan (U.S. Senate): Abdul is a doctor and public health leader who knows that health care is a right, not a privilege. He won a hard-fought primary on a platform of getting big money out of politics, lowering health care costs, and passing Medicare for All. Now he’s running in one of the country's most important battleground states. Chip in today to help Abdul win in Michigan and fight for working people in the Senate.
- Angie Nixon, Florida (U.S. Senate): In her primary, Angie beat a candidate who outraised her by more than ten to one. She’s a former union organizer who has fought corporate price gouging and stood up for working families struggling with Florida’s affordability crisis. Now Republicans want to write off her primary victory as a fluke. Chip in to Angie’s campaign and show them just how wrong they are.
- Mary Peltola, Alaska (U.S. Senate): As the first Alaska Native elected to Congress, Mary is a fighter for working people. I love her slogan: Fish. Family. Freedom. Alaska is a wildcard, but this race is winnable, and whichever party wins it will very likely control the Senate majority. Donate to help send Mary to the Senate for Alaska.
- James Talarico, Texas (U.S. Senate): James started out as a middle school teacher, and he knows this fight is about the top versus the bottom. Now he’s running against Ken Paxton, a man Texas House Republicans voted to impeach in 2023. Donate to help James make history and send a Democrat to the Senate from Texas for the first time since 1988.
- Peggy Flanagan, Minnesota (U.S. Senate): Peggy is the real deal. She fought to raise Minnesota’s minimum wage and tie it to inflation. When ICE descended on Minnesota, she stood strong against Trump’s attacks. And she refuses to take a dime of corporate PAC money. Donate to help send a fighter who answers to working people, not corporate interests, to the Senate.
- Sherrod Brown, Ohio (U.S. Senate): Sherrod and I have fought side by side for years, taking on Wall Street and standing up for working people. He led the fight to pass the Social Security Fairness Act, helping teachers, firefighters, and police officers get the full benefits they earned. Now he’s fighting to win back his Senate seat in Ohio. Chip in to help Sherrod get back to the Senate.
- Troy Jackson, Maine (U.S. Senate): Troy is a logger, a union man, and the real deal. He’s led the fight to lower prescription drug costs in Maine, and he isn’t afraid to take on billionaires. Susan Collins has been in the Senate for nearly 30 years, and Mainers deserve a senator who will stand up to Trump and fight for them. This race is close. Send Troy a gift today to help flip this seat.
Getting Democrats in key political positions means we can block Trump’s extreme judicial nominees, hold his administration accountable, and fight to lower costs and protect working families. But Republicans won’t give up their majority without a fight. They’re spending big to hold onto power, and our candidates need the resources to compete, organize, and get their message out to voters. Danielle, it will take winning races across the country, often by just a few thousand votes, to take back the Senate. Every single race matters, and every contribution helps these campaigns reach more voters and build the support they need. If you can’t give right now, you can still make a difference. Make calls, send texts, knock on doors, or share these candidates’ messages with friends and family. Visit their campaign websites to find out how you can get involved. And whatever else you do, for Pete’s sake, make sure you vote on November 3. Thanks for being a part of this, Elizabeth |
