Danielle, a way Republican politicians try to sound moderate on abortion rights is by bringing up the fact that they have daughters. "Oh, I couldn't take away reproductive rights, I've got a daughter." Well, look, the Supreme Court Justices that overturned Roe v. Wade collectively have 10 daughters. Donald Trump — who brags about ending Roe v. Wade — has two daughters (that we know of). History tells us that having daughters does not pre-qualify powerful decision makers to be reproductive rights advocates. So you can imagine why some people don't trust that defense. This is truly a question of trust — and when it comes to trust, actions speak louder than words about daughters. Keep in mind that right now, 30% of all women — daughters — live in a state that effectively bans access to abortion due to Donald Trump's actions. And if Trump and Vance make it to the White House, it won't be 30%. They will aim for it to be 100%. Republicans and right-wing extremists are coming after abortion everywhere in this country. They're coming after IVF in this country, and they're coming after contraception — birth control, IUDs, Plan B, everything. Not just in red states, but nationally — red states, blue states, purple states, everywhere. They've told us — and shown us — that they will. They've told us this in Project 2025. JD Vance told us this when he wrote a letter to the Department of Justice showing them how to ban abortion nationally without a vote in the Senate. House and Senate Republicans have said they are going for a nationwide abortion ban. Senate Republicans have blocked IVF protections from passing through Congress not once, but TWICE now. We all watched as one after another Republican nominee for the Supreme Court walked in front of the United States Senate and swore until the world looked level that they would respect precedent, which was supposed to be code for they would not overturn Roe v. Wade. And then the first opportunity they got, they set Roe v. Wade on fire and burned it to ash. When we talk about abortion laws, we are talking about the lives of our daughters. Daughters and granddaughters who deserve full autonomy over their bodies instead of politicians "who have daughters" controlling them. Women are not stupid. Republicans can try to soften their anti-abortion stances all they want, but, we know not to trust the futures of our daughters and granddaughters to the Republican party. If you agree, then vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. Vote for the pro-choice Democrats down your ballot. Forward this message to your friends and family. If Democrats have pro-choice majorities in the House and Senate and we have Kamala Harris in the White House, we will pass a law securing the right to an abortion nationwide. I'm going to keep fighting like hell to get this done. For our daughters and granddaughters, Elizabeth |
