And Rosabelle finally got her stitches out! She was kinda freaked when the doctor was coming at her with the tweezers, but she was a brave girl. Afterward she just kept saying "that was pretty scary". Now we have been talking about scars and how everybody has them, but I'm thinking a few months down the road and we won't even be able to see hers, especially once her eyebrow grows back.

Summer so far
So far (and knock on wood) Sonny has been the best baby. He is a good eater and an even better sleeper...we'll see how he does once he starts coming out of the newborn coma. He is the sweetest boy and is already experiencing what it is like to have a big sister.

It was great to have Mom & Dad here, Rosabelle had so much fun having picnics outside with Grandpa and taking walks with Grandma. They also went to the Zoo and got to meet the Latina icon that is Dora.

Danny and I just had our 6 year wedding anniversary. We celebrated when the 'rents were here so we could leave the kiddos and go out to a nice dinner, but Danny did get me some beautiful blue hydrangeas like we had at our wedding.

Other than that we are just trying to enjoy our first summer on the West side. So far, so good.

Yankee Doodles
Happy 4th of July! We are having a pretty mellow Independence Day staying in, but we are hoping we'll be able to see some fireworks off of our balcony tonight. Sonny is 6 days old and has just been a joy so far. Rosabelle is just loving him and is being the cutest big sis always wanting to hold him, cover him up and put her stuffed animals all around him. She got a trike for her birthday and has been taking Cinderella out for rides. This has been a really special and amazing week. We are so glad that Mom has been here to help. We have lots to be thankful for, but mostly thankful to not be pregs anymore.

Sonny
Welcome home, Sonny!
Sonny Francis was born at 2:26 pm on 6/28. We gave him the middle name Francis after his Great Grand Pap Scherfel. The delivery went really smoothly, except for some extra hard work towards the end. After he was delivered the doctor said it was because he came out "Sunny Side Up", and I said that was pretty funny since we were planning on naming him Sonny.

Lil Trooper
Rosabelle and her parents survived her first injury!
Around noon today Rosabelle was playing on her toy cow (now off to the slaughter) and she took a header right into our metal staircase. There were tears and blood, but not too much of either. We immediately called her pediatrician who told us to apply pressure to stop the bleeding and bandage her up and instead of going to the ER she made an appointment for us to go right to a plastic surgeon.
The doctor wrapped her up like a burrito and taped her up so she would lie still. He was not sure if I would be ok, but I think he was just afraid I would go into labor during the surgery. Good thing I'm not squeamish cuz the cut was pretty nasty and it was freaky to watch him poking around in it. I'll spare you the graphic pic of the gaping wound.

Danny was holding her head and I was stabilizing her. The worst part was when he had to give her the local anesthesia and she kept saying "No, No!", but after that she was perfectly still and the doctor and nurse couldn't believe how well she did.
Since this all went down during what would have been her nap time toward the end of the procedure she just crashed out and started snoring. To top it off they gave her a heart bandage.

2 years old
Our sweet little Rosabelle Jo is 2 years old! We had a super fun birthday weekend. We went to the beach, played at the park and went to see Toy Story 3 in 3D. She was also nice enough to share her big day with her Dad for Father's Day.

Then we had a little birthday party with our friends and old neighbors Omar & Hanna and their daughter Alina. Rosabelle loved her Tinkerbell costume and couldn't have been cuter. She loved all of her presents and all the balloons. Since you're only 2 once, she got 2 cakes...Cinderella and Silvermist (one of the fairies in Tink's posse).

These last two years with this little girl have been truly amazing. She is so sweet and smart and we love her so much. Now she is getting excited to be a big sister.

Danny's Birthday
Last week was Danny's birthday and we had such a fun time. Rosabelle was so excited she kept saying "Happy Birthday, Daddy!" all day, which Danny thought was the best present. He said all he really wanted for his birthday was cake cones, so Rosabelle helped me make them...and they were delicious.
Then since it was Memorial Day weekend and our trio is soon to become a quartet we decided to go away for the weekend to spend some time together. We drove up the coast to the Channel Islands. We played on the beach, swam in the pool and just had fun watching this sweet little girl. There was a super cool playground next to the hotel that was designed as a couple of pirates ships. I used the hipstamatic camera app on my iphone to take a couple of the shots below.
Now we are less than a month away from baby brother's arrival. Danny and Rosabelle are going to Pittsburgh this week so I'm gonna enjoy a quiet weekend by myself and hope baby bro doesn't decide he needs to join me.
